Tokyo - Famous Ginza Cats
When we were walking in the Ginza shopping district of Tokyo last Sunday, we came across a scrum of Japanese furiously photographing two cats perched on a street sign along the main shopping avenue. Everyone had a camera, cell phone or ipad out--it was a mob of dozens, if not a hundred or more--trying to get close-ups of the cats. We had no idea at the time, but apparently these two cats are famous among the Japanese, and getting a picture of them is a high point of anyone's visit to Ginza. For me, the shot to get was of the photographers, not the photographees. But the cats were cute, so I had to include them.
