Today Suzie and I went to Notting Hill, a posh neighborhood in West London, for lunch and a bit of walkies. We had lunch in a place called Ottolenghi, which is owned by two chefs, both born in Jerusalem: one Jewish and one Palestinian. Their menu is obviously heavily influenced by Israeli and Palestinian cuisine (both of which are quite similar in many respects), with considerable emphasis on very imaginative and very healthy salads.
Suzie opted for roasted chicken breast with a barley, broad bean, dill and feta salad and a beetroot salad.
I had a salmon and dill quiche with a sweet potato and butternut squash salad and a roasted aubergine, pine nut and pomegranate salad.
Ottolenghi isn't just known for its healthful salad offerings. They also have quite a pastry selection, and we had a banana and chocolate tart and a passionfruit meringue tart. That's my exceptional latte in the background.
On the way out, we picked up their brand new cookbook, which has absolutely gorgeous photography and very interesting recipes. Suzie already is thinking about which dishes to prepare first.
